Service Network (YSN)
The YSN (Yelex Service Network) provides
a world-class network infrastructure which offers an impressive
IT learning environment for students. The main objective
of such infrastructure is to build up a true “IT shelter”
by exposing students to a real ‘living and breathing’ IT
e-Business environment.
The YSN truly enhances a student’s effectiveness and efficiency
in learning by hosting a series of functions in online communication,
news publishing, online helpdesk, student information center,
online storage, and even a virtual campus!
The
following are services powered under YSN:
Yelex News Network System
The YNN (Yelex News Network) is basically
an in-house news portal that specially caters to students
seeking up-to-date campus news as well as the hottest topics
discussed and reported in the business world. A significant
coverage is also dedicated to local news and special features
in the areas of health, studies and philosophy. Meanwhile,
the YNN also provides a good training ground for students
who participate in the reporting and management of news
reported by the YNN. Not only does YNN provide an outlet
to thriving writers amongst the Yelex student population,
but it is also a self sustaining unit of the Institute that
is managed by its members.
Yelex Groupware System
The concept and design of the Yelex Groupware
is to improve business communication, collaboration and
coordination. A student will quickly realize the power of
a Groupware in helping businesses increase productivity
and reduce costs. Functionalities and features include E-mail,
Group Calendaring & Scheduling, Group Discussion, Instant
Messaging, Instant Conferencing, Knowledge Management, File
Management as well as News and Events Management.
INFO@Yelex System
INFO@Yelex is clearly a virtual student information
center. It acts to answer most of the queries and information
that students would want or need to know. Detailed and useful
guidance about your study environment, facilities, rules
and regulation, electronic forms and so on are readily available
in this site.
eHelpdesk System
The e-Helpdesk seeks to provide technical
support for common IT issues and queries faced by users.
Noting that every student in Yelex is wireless network enabled,
technical support is merely a click away. The e-Helpdesk
is basically a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system
that allows students to register themselves and log-in,
update and check the status of queries and cases that they
have filed in. Students can access a product specific help
desk that is created automatically as support cases are
solved by technical support staff.
INTRANET@Yelex
The Intranet is a web portal and internal
online community system which provides current news of the
campus’ policies, semesters calendaring, downloads of certain
vital documents, offline messaging centre, etc. The Intranet
has also quickly become the main "download center"
for all sorts of documents, files, and software where downloads
are convenient and at fantastic speed.
iSTORAGE
The iStorage is a medium of electronic file
transfer and storage for students. Anyone having worked
in an IT environment would relate to the issue of file transfer
and storage. This task is especially tedious when electronic
files are large and needs to be shared or transferred to
a group of people. iStorage thus provides a fantastic solution
to this problem.
